Architectural mapping at La Palud

In the heart of Lausanne, Place de la Palud becomes the stage for a poetic and immersive spectacle. As night falls, the façade of the Lausanne City Hall comes alive through a sound and light projection entitled “Light Sketchbook: a Painted Journey Around the World”, delighting audiences of all ages.

A true invitation to travel and dream, this visual experience takes spectators on an imaginary journey through landscapes, cultures, and atmospheres inspired by destinations across the globe. The projected images unfold like the pages of a travel journal, transforming the iconic architecture of the square into a vibrant, animated fresco filled with color and sound.

This project also stands out for its strong collaborative and human dimension. It showcases drawings and sound creations produced by students from three Lausanne schools — Béthusy, Isabelle-de-Montolieu, and C.-F. Ramuz. Their works are brought to life on a monumental scale, forming a series of living tableaux that celebrate the city of Lausanne, its iconic landmarks, the everyday life of its residents, and the surrounding natural environment.

Through this collective creation, Place de la Palud becomes a space of encounter, sharing, and wonder, where the imagination of younger generations engages with the city itself, offering the public a joyful, sensitive, and deeply unifying moment.
